Arab countries burns the danish flag because of the famous drawings.

I won't say anything, but what are you guys' opinion?

Edit: since this topic is bombarded with comments, I guess I can't resist saying my own opinion, just to provoke those who doesn't share it :P

Anyways, I think that naturally JP (the paper) had any right to press what they like, but naturally those drawings were obviously meant as a provokation. And it was disgusting to see how pleased JP afterwards were on how they made many muslims angry. I think Denmark has been too poor in explaining that the drawings were a product of a private enterprise, and not anything related to the official views. Naturally I am sad, on how Denmark seems to be hated in several muslim countries now. And I think their reaction is disgusting as well. So I'm in the sad state, were I don't really approve of any of the sides, they're both idiots IMHO.

I just wonder why all Christian countries haven't banned all arab products ages ago, for all the times that they have called us heathens and talked ill of our culture.

This once again illustrates how hard it is to understand people of different beliefs. Many muslims take their religion seriously, and fine by me. But they should also understand that many Westerners no longer know what that means.
/A
I can imagine many christians, that also had been upset, if muslims did a similiar thing towards Christinaity
You know, I have always had a hard time getting upset about people burning the Danish flag. Especially since the traditional and respectful way of disposing of an old Dannebrog is to burn it. Perhaps someone ought to tell them?
Denmark is a beautiful country, has a great culture, and does alot for the world in terms of charitable aid (we're actually nr. 1 in the world, I believe). This country has worked so hard at equality, probably more so than any other world, and for somebody to stomp all over the flag is absolutely disgusting.
hum. i think one of the fundamental problems here is respect for other cultures. we take free speech and free press for granted. it's easy to forget that that isn't something that is respected everywhere. in many other countries the media is directly (sometimes indirectly) controlled by their governments. perhaps with this in mind, it's a little easier to understand why it's not understood why our government won't get involved in the debate, and won't entertain suggestions to get involved. the only thing he can do, is explain the way the media operates here. the fundamental difference makes it hard for both sides to understand where the other is coming from.
i'm not saying that boycotting danish companies and burning the flag is the answer to the problem, it's just easier for us to understand where they are coming from. (i hate using us and they.) if saudi arabia and other muslim countries want to boycott something, they should boycott the paper, not other danish firms by proxy.
but when religion and politics mix, it's hard to look at things rationally.
my two cents.
"saudi arabia and other muslim countries want to boycott something, they should boycott the paper, not other danish firms by proxy"

I fully agree with that
The muslims need to get the fuck over themselves, realise how lucky they are to have such bette opportunity and freedom and saftey of living in a Democratic, free country. They need to get with the program, adapt the Danish lifestyle, and be appreciatie. Raping danish women, bashing gay guys, treating their wives like shit won't gain them popularity in this country if they continue their way.

This country could care less about any religion, to be honest. Had the muslims drawn such cartoons of Jesus, Danes would laugh, it would be humorous. Danes critcize their religion and their country always. It's called fucking freedom of speech, and if these people can't appreciate it, get the fuck out. I'm sure life is a whole lot better in a Middle Eastern Dictatorship.
Uhm.. mind you, why should Muslims in the Middle East adapt to our way of life?

They are free to do whatever they want.
Well the only thing I think is wrong is that a whole country is judged because of a couple of idiots.. just like all americans are judged because they have an idiot president.. not all americans voted for him or think what he does is right,... same goes here
pretty much my sentiment too.

I pretty much agree with that they're unhappy with this. I just don't get, why they blame the entire country for this?
As an American who did not vote for W, I thank you. There are even some American Social Democrats such as myself.
wow. i've become de-sensitized to people burning my flag (the american flag).. since i think we as a country have pissed off enough people that we kinda deserve to be 'spit on' in that way... but danmark? seriously?! what has danmark ever done wrong? (i mean.. yea.. all countries have it's flaws... but let's just compare the 'wrongs' done from each country... the us has about 395,736,183 more wrongs than any other stinkin' country in this world.)

*deep breath*

ok. i'm done now.
Maybe the palestinians have run out of American flags to burn (just kidding!)
Do the math:

We went into Iraq
+
Our strict laws concerning immigrants
+
Drawings of Muhammad, which isn't allowed in their religion

=
Some pretty angry Muslims

Honestly, it's not a pretty picture. They see all of this coming from Denmark. They don't see the difference between the involved parties. They just see that we're not really happy about them.

Yes, there's a free press and freedom of speech in Denmark. But there are also such things as the blasphemy and the racism paragraph. We have freedom of speech, but we also have a responsibility to use it wisely. Why create such upset and anger by doing something that they KNEW would be offensive?! You can have a debate in many ways. And debate is always good. But starting out by offending a whole big group of people just to sell newspapers and please a growing group of Dansk Folkeparti voters is not a good way of doing it!
I don't see how offending a group of people who demoralize women, bash gay people, hate this country is necissarily a bad thing. Especially given the fact that they've immigrated here and imposed their brutal hardline culture on us and haven't shown any decency.
to me, the whole thing is a farce

if the saudis etc were REALLY that angry at denmark

why didn't they burn the flags before in protest
of gay rights, women's rights, freedom of speech, etc

saudis should stop buying western products altogether, and instead start outsourcing their labour to jesusland. people in indiana would be glad to export fundamentalist products with similar tastes.
they're from saudi arabia?
kind of random, but as far as anti western rhetoric goes

nice job wearing jeans and a levi's sweatshirt
I agree with your view, this whole situation has become completely out of hand, I don't see how now it should be stopped. We see people on TV claiming an excuse, but I think no matter if Fogh and JP actually did that (which I doubt they will), it wouldn't stop it now.

I don't see in the first place why they had to post those drawings, but at the same time I also think that it is very strict that non-muslims should be under the same rule of not being allowed to draw pictures of humans or Muhammed.

Like someone else mentioned, I guess it is also because of different cultures, in for example Saudi Arabia no newspaper exists without the approval of leaders of the country and the censurship is very hard, so for the inhabitants it must be very difficult to imagine a country where the newspapers actually don't belong to the government and aren't under heavy censorship.

But I think Fogh should have met with the ambassadors back then.
As you can guess, then I agree with that. And thanks for making the point of that newspapers are more related to official politics in those countries. Makes sense!
To all the posters that think that burning the Danish flag makes your heart cringe. You are hypocrites.

Seriously who cares if they burn a Danish flag. That is absolutely the same kind of disrespect and right to freely express one self that some people in Palestine are extorting as JP did with the pictures. To say you are disgusted with that is to be a big hypocrite.
that's bullshit. burning the flag, means they hate you. And burning the danish flag, means they hate us. And I don't want to be hated, especially as I haven't done anything towards them.
You are still looking at traditions and not at the religion. If it were the religion, then most Muslims would behave that way and they don't.
